A Big Muddy Adventure

This past weekend, Nova, her mom, our doggos, Pippin and Barley, and I headed south to the Big Muddy area in Saskatchewan. Nova had wanted to check it out. I remember going there WAY back in the 1980s, when I was in grade school. I remember it being neat, and I wanted to see it all again with adult eyes.

We stayed at a super neat Airbnb just outside of Cornach. We spent Saturday seeing the sites: Castle Butte in the AM, and several Indigenous effigies and the Sam Kelly Outlaw Caves in the PM, joining one of the Big Muddy Tours (we did the “outlaws and effigies” tour).

It was a nice short getaway. We also reflected on the idea that one of Nova’s ancestors may have been part of the Saskatchewan outlaw story (if you see her, ask her about it…ha!).

Here are a handful of pics from our adventures.

Fun times! -tMac
